Creative Futures (finalisation)

Updated: Mar 3

This section is the final part of the 'Creature Futures assignment'. This is where I will start to finalise everything I did in my previous blog and demonstrate all I've learnt throughout the classes and my own investigation.

Design Drafts project/ personal branding materials:

I'm actually near the end of finishing my materials as most of the background research are done previously. Now the main focus is just to finalise the colours and clean it up by aligning everything neatly, redrawing etc.

BUSINESS CARD

Previous Business card:

Feedback: (Henry M)

  1. BC looks great and likes the personalised element (the Chinese characters at the corner).

  2. The main thing is to adjust the colour scheme to match my poster (or vice versa).

Process thinking:

Taking Henry's advice to match the colour scheme to my poster. Here below' I've demonstrated the colours from the poster to my business card to compare them. After testing them I still lean towards the vibrant red. It just really stands out compare to the others. The orange- brown seem dull and the blue and purple clashes with the character. Another reason for choosing the red one is because it goes with the Chinese characters at the corner as red is usually associated as a good luck colour to Chinese people which gives it a nice bonus appeal to it.

As shown below, to compare the previous Business card I increased the quality of it by redrawing the character in higher resolution and added minor details such as subtle shadows and better alignments.

Feedback: (Henry M)

Henry also has the same mindset. He feels like the red pops out more which is extremely important to grab a employer's attention. The important thing is to adjust the look to my poster. Lastly, pay attention to some details such as increasing the name font and making sure of the position of the + sign of the phone number is correct.

(Aodhan M)

Likes the overall layout however consider replacing concept artist with 2d animator as the image doesn't represent someone in a main role as a concept artist that well.

Process thinking:

I did my research and Henry was right it's actually +44, not 44+ so I fixed that quickly. The business card now is pretty much all done. The red has a lot more presence. I just need to make sure everything is aligned and cleaned. I did considered replacing concept artist for 2d animator as Aodhan suggested but I want the people to understand that my main passion is concept art so I left it as it is. Also, the image intention is to connect the business card with my film so its fine for what it is for now.

Research:

The site below mentions that red increase interest that will excite and make the customer act on receiving the offer.

Link:

Here mentions employers tend to keep colourful business card ten time longer than black and white and that red gathers the most attention over other.

Link:

Final clean version:

I think the redraw of my character has immensely improve the overall quality and it looks more appealing which is great. The style really reflects my character so I think I achieve that very well. It's minimal with a pop of colour, a touch of uniqueness with the Chinese characters and the drawing and informative enough. All I have intended when I started this project (intentions mention in my previous post).

Back:

Since the QR code is to the website site I changed the bottom description to my Instagram.

PROJECT POSTER

Previous poster:

Feedback: Henry M (focusing on the cons only)

  1. The title is too diagonal, unintentionally provoking speed (movement). Rather than evoking the meaning of the word lag. It looked like it's related to cars.

  2. The title is bold and nice, maybe exaggerate the boldness even more if u can/want

  3. Adjust your name slightly higher

  4. Try to match the colours scheme to your business card and cv

Progress thinking:

I still really like my original idea of trying to make the title look like it's lagging with the corner dragging behind however, if people without context find it hard to understand my intention. It would be better to take it out and focus on just creating the title more blocky and built like it's stubborn and not moving. Also, since the placement of the laptop and name etc, are very center the diagonal breaks that continually flow which looks like it doesn't belong there.

Testing different colours:

I really like all of them. There are very similar so it was tough to choose. At the moment, I really like the blue background with the orange text which matches the sofa in my film and I also gear towards to the white background with the red text that matches my business card. The film is still in the making so I could incorporate more red and white colours in it so that's not a problem.

Feedback: (Henry M)

The blue with orange title and red with white title looks the most appealing. The white with red title also looks great as the negative space stands out more.

(Aodhan M)

Try to think of ways to fill up the empty space more.

Process thinking:

I agree with Henry on the white background one. It helps to emphasise the negative space and it also makes the shadows stand out more. Also In my film the anxiety shots are in a vibrant colours and the backgrounds are empty so I feel like that will connect with my film greatly. For the final poster, I will try to incorporate more notes to fill it up the space a little more so it's not too empty.

Research:

As mention from these sites below, red provoke fear, strong presence, aggression and is a vivid colour. These descriptions matches well with my film which is important to know I going the right direction.

Link:

Final clean version:

Here I have redraw the poster in a higher quality, increased the title size, incorporated more notes to fill the space, cleaned up the shadows and improved the credit font (my name).

I personally really like this outcome. It is very minimalism and thought through. The clean poster also looks a lot more professional presented. It seem like I went down the minimal look focusing on the elements from the film (laptop and cake).

Lighting:

To get the shadows accurate I used the perspective guide in Procreate as shown below:

Time-lapse of my process:

C.V. DESIGN

Previous CV:

Feedback:

-better to place the education section below the work experience

-be more specific in the work experience section by using bullet points

-the red bookmark looks off

  1. try replacing the grey box with the whole red bookmark

  2. remove the red bookmark completely and reorganise my name etc.

Test:

Process thinking:

I'm not really feeling it. For me personally, I find it too generic.

Some more variations:

Feedback: (Henry M)

After discussing we find the character doesn't contribute much with the cv so we decided it is better to leave it out. He at first liked the name at the side however, I disagree as it leaves a empty space at the right corner so after discussing with each other it would be better to have it on the side and bring up the red box.

I also added another reference as shown below at the last section to fill up the empty space. Next, I've reorder experience and education as suggested and made the writing much more concise as I can and lastly have the sub titles in bold so its divides the sections better.

Extra research I forgot to add on the previous blog:

Here below this site which gives a list of words to avoid and what to add to sound less generic. I find this extremely useful when writing my resume. The only downside is I have limited experience to use recommend words such as I accomplished, advanced etc. nonetheless the vocabulary given was very helpful.

Link:

Final clean version:

I am pleased how this came out. Simple with a touch of my business card colour 'red' in specific places such as the lines and box. I also made the background more of a greyish tone so cv won't vanish into the rest of the area if its white.

(the right cv is the final cv)

PORTFOLIO/ SHOWREEL

Useful tips I learnt in class (tutor Henry Melki):

-As always quality over quantity

-Halo/ Horn effect: be judge by my weakness piece

-Who are my audience- employer or client

-avoid life drawings

-add character/ personality

-create versions and how it applies

-careful with the layout

-avoid long title cards

Gather info:

job description-what to expected for the role

industry research- what the industry looking for

understand the pipeline- who is next in line

understand the style- created in a specific way

Empathy maps (a marketing/design tool)

On week 8, Henry advised us to take this empathy maps tool to help us to understand our target person/studio/audience better to help with our portfolio. As shown below in blue writing I tried my best to answer those question in terms of how the employer viewpoint:

Rather than looking through portfolios, I find myself gearing towards people reviewing portfolio as its much more informative and sometimes I surprise myself that I never realise some of the comments the reviewer points out. Then I will apply them to my own.

Portfolio

Platform: Artstation

A lot of professional artist and recruiters are based on Artstation so this was great platform to not only use as a portfolio but put your name out there among other artists. More exposure you would say.

A great site below is the reasons why you want Artstation as your portfolio platform such as attention, engagment, connect with followers and so on. Artstation recommends.

Links:

Link to my Artstation portfolio: https://maggiechankei.artstation.com/

Since my roles (3d modeller, 2d animator and concept artist) includes both 2D and 3D I created two separate album one for 2d work and one for 3d work. I could have it all in one but that is already provided as shown there's an all album as well. I also have my own personalise profile icon as shown above. Another great thing is that Artstation is very easily to manage even if you are new to it. Once I had uploaded my images I instantly received engagement such as likes which is great.

Taken the tips I learnt I kept my portfolio very limited with only quality pieces and avoid showing weak pieces that doesn't reflect my skill level.

The only difficult problem I faced while creating my portfolio, is that I find myself not having any pieces that cover enough of the fundamentals that I know the recruiter might seek out such demonstration of the anatomy. The only piece I have that might fill that space is my character pose sheet created for my film however, I don't feel like I did great job with it and it mostly likely will bring down the standard of the overall portfolio which is why I chosen to leave it out.

The only way I feel I could fix that is to take my time and continue working on my skills. I actually felt this way for my last assignment too and I realise I have more material now than before so as long as I work more I will slowly build a better portfolio in the time coming.

Although it seems finished now, I will always continue improving my skills and replacing my pieces with better ones as I progress in the future.

Showreel

I've decided to go with a portfolio to showcase my work since I have a lot of images rather than video work. However just in case I created a showreel as well. The same rules applies from portfolio to showreel.

Some points that I didn't mention in the portfolio section:

-keep it 1-2min long

-use non-copyrighted music

-don't have the music overshadow your work

Some tips by the crewing company:

-Keep it the right length and pace

-keep it clear

-keep it relevant

-keep it consistent

-keep it up to date

6 Ways to Make Your Showreel or Demo Reel Stand Out by Jonny Elwyn

-avoid montage if you can (trailers are a better solution)

-think of it as a portfolio

-be specific on what you can do

-best work only

-add tags

-add info (brand, emails, etc)

Link:

After working so long on showreel throughout my time in university. These tips already come to mind without thinking when creating a showreel.

For music I used the YouTube free no attribution needed library. After searching these three are the ones I find the most effective for a showreel:

-Fast and run by Nico Staf

-Love Aside by Patrick Patrikios

-Like that by Anno Domini Beats

What I look for when searching is something that is upbeat but also mellow so its not too distracting. Also I since you can easily access other peoples showreels on YouTube I went there to see what type of music they tend to go for as a reference for mine. After listening for a while I have decide to go with Like that by Anno Domini Beats. It has more of beat to which like.

My previous showreel that I created for placement:

My new showreel:

Side note: Also it was advise to add stills from our films- for the EOFYS so that is included within the showreel

Process:

Editing with Premiere Pro

I tried to limit as much transitions as I can as it can be easily be over done which can make it hard for the viewer to watch. I know its not advise to match the showreel to the beat however for this sound I think sounds fine cutting some cuts on the beat. I've added my title card with my info/link as well as sub-headings for the three sections (3d modelling, concept art and 2d animation). I've also incorporate a logo that transitions from the plate which I think is a nice touch. Its basically a M (for Maggie) and C imitating a curve (for Chan).

Overall I happy with the result. Its much better than my previous one and adding my film material added to it was nice to see.

RESEARCH INTO THE JOB ROLES, LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL STUDIO PORTFOLIOS

I've already tackle this area a lot in my previous post, to expand on what I mention and a suggestion from the feedback I'll investigated the required qualifications for my desired role.

Note:

My desired job roles- concept artist, 2D animator and 3D modeller

Currently I don't seem to find a job role suited for what I'm looking for within Northern Ireland therefore I also looked at other places and here I found a recent role, concept artist from Industrial Light & Magic located in London through the Indeed website. I will use this as example on what is expected for the role.

Outlining what I can offer from my experience:

Green: job description requirements

Black: what I can offer

Blue: if not what is the plan

Experience in the entertainment industry or virtual art department (bonus)

-this area is one of the areas I lack in the most which is experience especially that I skipped placement year. However I can say I have gain some type of experience in my 2nd year assignment working with Boom Clap Play's project.

-the plan to earn more experience at this time is is to apply for NI Screen placement offers after I graduate

Portfolio

-this area I am always working on e.g. updating my work as i progress

Understand cinematic techniques/languages

-I feel very confident with my knowledge of cinematic techniques/lang. Besides my A-level Moving Images Art qualification I pick up a lot of the languages vocabulary throughout my time at uni.

Strong 'eye' and aesthetic

-I'm confident with this area as well. Especially from a art student background I often challenge my views and thoughts on others and mostly received positive feedback. Also creating my individual film I tend to ask other people's opinions on my art before I moved on to the next area which help me build a stronger eye on what is good and what is bad.

Understanding/creation of photo real work

-what I understand from this requirement is they are looking for realistic work. I have no problem creating those types of work as I have worked in that style before in my art.

Create environments, hard surface and creature design, matte paintings, shot elements, storyboards (bonus)

-Many of these areas I have already build some experience on such as environment and creature design and shot element and storyboards in my time at the university.

-the ones left, hard surface design I would spend time gathering reference photos and slowly build on those skills. As for matt paintings I'm still very new to this therefore I would try to meet the requirement by practicing.

Ability to collaborate with the Art Department leadership and within a production environment.

-being very honest for myself in order to improve I lack a lot in communication skills. Although I can effectively demonstrate my work and take instructions well I do lack in communicating deeper thoughts without the stress/anxiety.

-to fight this off I never forget to challenge myself to talk in any opportunity of a social gathering and corporate as much as I can without stressing myself too much by knowing my boundaries. As you can say practicing makes prefect.

Work under pressure while implementing changes

I often have to meet deadlines for my assignment in uni. Also my time at Boom Clap Play often I will receive feedback for changes for the work and have no problem to do so.

Proficiency in design software required & work in both 2D and 3D (e.g Photoshop, Maya, Blender, Zbrush, 3D-Coat, Keyshot, Octane)

-One of the most special things I took from my time at this university is being able to use a wide range of software from both 2D to 3D such as Photoshop, Maya, Zbrush, Toon Boom Harmony and the list goes on. As well as outside of university I often spend time on design software such as Krita and procreate.

Lastly be able to assemble research and reference material that will be influential to clients and design team.

-I had experience with research and referencing material during my time at Boom Clap Play so I'm assure I am able to do this effectively especially the more experience I gain other the period.

Information on specific job roles:

I found this site on Screenskills

Where I can choose the specific role within the animation industry that I wanted to go in and gives you all the information on what exactly they do and what skills you need to hold.

(I would have screenshots however I'm not sure if its allowed )

Local and international studio portfolio research:

Note: I applied these tips for my portfolio however I felt like placing this research in this section would be better.

Laura Price is a frequent youtuber I watch. She specialise in visual development which is basically concept art. She is quite a role model for the line of work she does is similar what I aim for. The way she presents her work is very inspiring on what I could do for my portfolio. I also planned on having many of my character designs into one board however due to limited pieces I just left it as individual posts for now.

Honestly it was hard watching professional animators portfolio as I compare myself to them I lack a lot of skills and pieces. However I do remind myself that these artist having been work way longer than I have. They've been building skills and working professional for years. Nonetheless it was motivating me to strive for the better.

(*insert example of a student portfolio- wasn't sure if I had the permission to do so)

Even so looking at student works in the concept art section I can tell the differences that my overall work is a lot more of a generalist than a concept artist as I have being focusing on experimentation within the line of work in animation than on one single area so I do keep in mind that mine would be different to theirs.

I've mention this is a powerpoint of studios I've gathered that are located in Northern Ireland which I am also updating in my previous post:

studios.pptx
.pdf
Download PDF • 3.90MB

I also mention that Taunt, Mashmob and Flickerpix were where my interest lies in. Analysing their portfolio/work. I understand they all have their own unique style of work. If applying for them I learnt in class that your work needs to be tailor to them as they look for people who can either improve/add to the studio or build it stronger. This is one of the things I know I need to improve on by making sure I am always practicing and revamping my art.

My art at moment doesn't really suit their type of work although not that far from it. I realise as mention I need to create more work and build a stronger portfolio if I planning to apply for specific studio. At moment the portfolio is based on what I achieved out of uni since it is really all I can offer for now.

PROMOTION STRATEGIES FOR PRESENTING MY MATERIALS AT THE EOYS:

(end of year show)

Digital Strategies aka my online presence

Promoting my work online:

Artstation

Since my portfolio is based on Artstation I've uploaded pieces from my film and gather attention from other artists as I know due to notification likes.

Instagram

  • Final year Instagram page

Link to the final year Instagram page:

For this page, everyone from the class was given 3 squares/posts to and promote as well as to introduce ourselves. This is very beneficial as the page has quite a following of animators and past students who anticipating the showcase. For the 3 spaces I would use as numbered, 1.poster, 2.profile picture and lastly 3. a clip of my animation.

My captions for the 3 posts: (questions from the form giving by Katie & Natasha who is in charge of this year's Instagram)

Brief project description:

Do you ever feel like your 'lagging' in life? Where did the missing time go?

'LAG' is a visually driven psychological 2D short focusing on a girl struggling with anxiety provoked by procrastination and the immense feeling of regret on the wasted time.

About you (in the third person):

Welcoming... Maggie Chan the one behind the film 'LAG'. Art is her life! As a heartily creative artist, this led her to specialise in concept art, 3D modelling and 2D animation. Her time in Ulster also led her to become very versatile and adaptable. 'LAG' would be her first time animating with Toom Boom. Aside from this, she loves watching films from diverse cultures, travelling and baking (although she's not a 'natural' for baking she never gives up a challenge!).

Final thoughts:

I hope you guys have a grand time watching the film as much as I loved the time creating it right from the start to the very end.

  • Art account: Magkeic

Link to account page:

I also plan to promote my project on my art account. Rather than creating a new account personally I felt my art account would have more engagement since it already has quite a following.

I found this site extremely helpful to give me the insight to achieve the highest engagement when I will post on my Instagram. It's even better that this article is very recent, focusing on 2021.

From what I've gathered according to the Sprout Social chart (from the site), Wednesday and Friday have the highest engagement specifically around 10 am to 3 pm. Usually, the time when they wake up or having their break/lunch is the time they are likely to be on their phone.

Here below I've created a very basic schedule for when to post. The reason I didn't note down any specific time to post; my thought is as long as it between 10 am to 3 pm it should be fine.

At the moment the showcase is likely to set for the 4th of June which is about a month away (as I am writing). I wasn't sure if too early to promote so I went towards Henry (tutor) for answers. Which says better to start now than later. For that reason, I plan on starting promoting at the end of April (about a week from now).

The aim as I showed above on the calendar is to start promoting once a week then increasing the amount of post as we get closer to the day of the showcase.

As for my personal account, I also plan to post on the story area.

List of promoting materials:

-rough drawings of the development

-rough animation (clean-ups and colour)

-rough poster

-finished backgrounds

-sneak peek of a clip of the final film

-countdown

-reminders

-final business card

-final poster

12th/03/2020 Personal Branding with Cathy Moore

For this online talk, Moore went over the importance of personal branding & marketing. Delving into topics such as CV writing, skills profile, job hunting platforms etc. Below are some of the useful notes I've gathered from this insightful talk:

- Personal branding & marketing is about what do I have and who is my target audience

- Ask myself, what skill do I have and who are my professional competencies?

- Be active in commenting/ publishing articles on professional forums

- Try to get 'photo tagged' at conferences, event and so on.

- It is nice to include a hyperlink to your CV

- Linkedin: have a background, good profile face and best to upload- Mon- 5-7 am

DESIGN DECKS

A tailored experience for the client of a summary of my project.

Previously I was focusing on creating table however seem to be clear that the EOYS would not be in person physical environment I decided to scrap that idea and starting focusing on creating a virtual gallery.

Virtual gallery

During our lesson, Henry introduces us to Artsteps. I was very curious cause I never had the need to use any virtual programs/site. There was no better time than now so I was very intrigue and wanted give it a go.

This site does suggest using templates however I can customise it from scratch to the look of my film and make it memorable and personal to my style.

I feel like this is similar to a portfolio therefore I also will take the things I learnt from creating a portfolio (such as quality over quantity, tell a story whole placement, who are my audience? etc,) to creating a virtual experience.

Research:

I have been to many exhibitions before especially at the Ulster Museum and this is my view on what makes a great exhibition:

-enjoyable to walk around

-engaging

-aesthetic pleasing

-great work that gets you thinking

-spacious: not clutter

-each work have its own area

Investigation on other peoples thoughts on this:

Notes:

-Might not be everyone taste so just do what you wanted and what you like

-You are creating an experience

-Don't overdo it with too much content, leave them to form their own impression

It's also nice to not only focus on what experts have to say but also common general people views on this topic. (note: not all general there's also people with years of experience)

Notes:

-cater to the visitor

-easy getting around

-great composition

-variety

Analysing exhibitions:

Link to Artsteps exhibitions by users: artsteps | Exhibitions

I've also look into the exhibitions on Artsteps. Mostly on the most view and high rated exhibitions to see what the audience is looking for.

I see that one of them also has a description to introduce themselves or some kind poetic

One of the exhibitions that I feel I can get some inspiration from, is a piece by Sessiz Ciglik. Her exhibition is small but effective. Since my film is an individual work I only have my own work to display which is very limited to what a group exhibition would've been. Her exhibition is a decent size for the amount of material she wanted to show. This is a great guide for figuring out the size, the amount of spacious and composition/layout. I soon later realise that this is was actually a template nonetheless the same tips applies.

Link Cigik exhibition: artsteps | SESSİZ ÇIĞLIK / 2021

Like how this guy below has an introduction at the very beginning before entering the room. I feel like I also maybe have a picture and introduction for mine similar to his so that the viewer can easily remember my face as the creator of those works.

Aside from the tutorials by Artsteps another one is this great tutorial by Rod Milstead where he gives some tips on creating your own exhibiton from scratch.

Creating my exhibition from scratch:

Inspiration board:

Link to Pinterest page: https://pin.it/4xwa8Yu

in terms of Style I want to be more spontaneous and creative tailoring as close to the vibe of my film.

Things to consider:

Material: All of my material are images that probably it needs to be against a wall.

Size: small room due to limited material

My audience: classmates, students, tutors, employers, friends

-most likely new to know how to use this site so simplicity is the key

Process:

I kept the size very small and easy to walk around especially for users who never use this site before. For some pieces I wanted to stand out i given it won space e.g. the three walls that protrudes out.

For the three walls I givens it its own colours from the film and I also add some trees, rocks, plants etc on the outdoor to feel more welcoming.

Below is a demonstration on how you would walk through the exhibition:

Rough:

Feedback: (Aodhan M)

He was very intrigue with the virtual exhibition and thinks it looks great so keep going. He also suggest having some descriptions next to the pieces as if its a booklet.

The only writing I have is the introduction to my film and myself at the front so I absolutely agree with Aodhan on adding more descriptions next the pieces of art so if the viewer is lost they could read it. I plan on replacing some of the materials once I have my film finish.

Final:

Below as shown I added my profile picture, poster, a short description of this exhibition and my name large at the front. I also added captions to each pieces of images used in this exhibition as Aodhan suggested. I then final added direction guides which are what the numbers are for which I will demonstrate.

Note: Initially for the placement of the final shot it was suppose to be for my final film video however the file was too large for it to handle so I replace it with the final frame of my film. I did try compressing the file but once it matches the file size the quality was extremely lost also converting it into other files types such as gif. didn't work well. The end results looks great though.

(left side: front view) (right side: back view)

My short description:

Demonstration the numbered guides used for the exhibition:

Link to my exhibition:

Surprisingly I had a great time creating this exhibition. I found it easy to handle with and it's just so pleasing to see my work displayed in a virtual setting. I'm very proud with the outcome.

Booklet:

Link to google slides:

I decide to use google slides as it was great free alternative and easy to access/share to the ones with pricing scheme online. It was also suggested by Aodhan.

Most of my research was in the previous post however I would like to mention a book called, 'Art of Brave' by Jenny Lerew.

Beside from my mood board of inspirational reference for the look of the booklet as well as what to include. This book by Lerew is my main influence. Of course brave is a much larger scale film so their work goes a lot deeper but I really like how they presented their work showing the behind the scenes roughs to the completed product.

I didn't realise how difficult it was to find research on what makes a exceptional art booklet as it keeps referring me to books and brochures but...

These are some things I kept in mind while creating this booklet:

-presentation is the key

-easy to read font nothing to fancy

-fill as much space as you can

-Title should be large and bold

-organised well and easy to go through

-don't overload with text let the image talk for itself

-short but detailed (quality over quantity)

I also consider this booklet like how I would create my portfolio as they are very similar but the booklet would go more in depth into the process of designs.

It was way easier to find images of art books online to know how I should present my work. The main thing was really using what I have.

EOYS (end of year show)

At the moment there is no confirmation of a physical show therefore we are focusing on online material.

Video Recording:

This video recording would be an introduction of myself which will be played before my project during the online stream.

Class lesson: Things to consider

-No rambling

-No negativity

-Show my workplace (optional)

-Poster on the side (optional)

Info. I want to mention: (I also looked at previous students intros as a guide for mine)

Name: Maggie Chan

Role: concept artist, 3d modeller and a 2d animator

Film title: LAG

Inspirations: Relatability, A person's individual struggles

Software: Toon Boom Harmony, Premiere pro

End: Thank you

*insert intro video

Since the recorded intros are 'no longer needed' for this assignment I plan on working on it longer therefore it will not be include it in this blog.

SELF-REFLECTION

Overall I am satisfied with the outcome, the design choices that I made especially the poster I personally really like it. The pleasing colour palette, the use of the negative space and the uniqueness of cake coming out of the laptop is very metaphoric. As for cv and business card, they are very tailored to my film for now so I expect to continue working on them for the general audience after the film is wrap up. Nonetheless, I also like the look of them so I please with the materials. The portfolio seems fine for now as mention before I plan on working on more pieces so I could build a stronger portfolio. The showreel is in a good state for now. The booklet is decent and lastly I had a grand time creating the virtual gallery and now with the knowledge of creating a exhibition from scratch I could use this site in the future for other things which is great.

I've learnt a lot throughout this assignment especially in the point of view of a recruiter. What they look for that is. Also a improvement of my self awareness of what is up to the standard. I had a lot of time to challenge my ideas with my tutors and receive constructive feedback which is one of the reasons I feel like improve a lot.

One of the things I would do differently is maybe personally reach out to animation studios within Northern Ireland and ask them what they look for in a candidate. Although I did hear some answers throughout the guest talking workshop on Fridays. They were very helpful but I could probably push further where I personally message them through email on my own time. In the end I did what I could do within the time of this deadline and I proud of the results.
